Privacy policy
How CricketTech handles your information on this website and in the CricketTech app. Version 2026-10, last updated 20 October 2026.
Who we are
JP Potgieter, trading as CricketTech (Veldhoven, the Netherlands; company registration in progress) makes CricketTech gadgets and the CricketTech app, and is the data controller for the information described here. For any privacy question or request, email crickettechsa@gmail.com.
The short version
You can use the app without an account, and then nothing about you is sent to us. A free account stores your email address, your name if your sign-in method shares it, how you signed in, what you agreed to, and the interest form if you fill it in. We don't show ads, don't sell data and don't use analytics or tracking tools.
The register-interest form on this website
When you register your interest we collect what you type into the form: your email address, country and the products you want, your confirmation that you're 16 or older (18 or older in India) and your consent to emails, and optionally your name, phone or WhatsApp number, club, and your answers about how you play.
We use it, based on your consent, only to:
- email you about CricketTech launches and prices for the products you chose (stop these emails at any time by replying to one or emailing crickettechsa@gmail.com);
- understand how much interest there is in each product and country.
We keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until two years after our last email to you, whichever comes first. Registrations are received and stored for us by Netlify Forms (Netlify, Inc., USA, covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses), and Netlify may also send us a copy by email, which arrives in our Gmail inbox (Google). If the form service can't be reached, the form opens your own email app instead and you send it to crickettechsa@gmail.com yourself. Your phone or WhatsApp number is optional and only used if you asked for launch news on WhatsApp.
Visiting this website
The website uses no cookies, analytics or tracking tools, and its fonts are stored on our own server, so visiting it sends nothing to Google or other companies. Our hosting provider (Netlify, Inc., USA, covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) keeps standard server logs (IP address, time and page requested) for a short time, for security and to keep the site running.
The CricketTech app: what stays on your phone
- Your cricket data: players and their names, matches, scores, reviews, speeds, bat swings, gadget readings and settings are stored on your phone only.
- Camera and videos: the camera is used when you record a net session or a clip for ball tracking. Videos you record in the app have no sound. Videos you record, pick from your gallery or share into the app stay on your phone; a working copy of a picked video is kept in the app's cache until Android clears it or you use Delete all my data.
- Ball tracking and the edge check: the ball's path is analysed entirely on your phone. The edge check listens to the sound of videos you import or share into the app (in-app recordings have none), also only on your phone. Videos and their sound are never uploaded.
- Bluetooth: used only to find and connect to CricketTech gadgets, never to work out your location. On Android 11 and older, Android requires the location permission for Bluetooth scanning; the app still doesn't use your location.
- Google backup: if Android backup is on, your phone backs up the app's matches, players and stats (not video clips) to your own Google account. Google's privacy policy applies to that backup.
- Sharing: scorecards and clips are only sent when you tap Share, to the app you choose (such as WhatsApp).
- Deleting it: use Club → Delete all my data, or uninstall the app.
The CricketTech app: your optional account
Signing in (with Google, or with an email address and password) unlocks ball tracking, ClubEye reviews and the gadgets. Your account stores:
- Account: email address, name (if shared by your sign-in provider), a user ID, sign-in method, and when the account was created and last used.
- Consent record: that you confirmed you're 16 or older, which version of the terms you accepted and when, and whether you said yes to news emails.
- Interest form (only if you fill it in): the products you're interested in, your country, and optionally your club, role and a message.
Why we use it, and the legal basis
- To give you an account and the features it unlocks: performing our agreement with you (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).
- To tell you about the products you registered interest in: your consent (article 6(1)(a)). Remove your registration any time.
- News and offers emails: your consent (article 6(1)(a)), only if you ticked the box. Turn it off any time in the app under Club → Account.
- Keeping the consent record: to be able to show what you agreed to (articles 6(1)(c) and 7(1)).
- Preventing abuse and keeping accounts secure: our legitimate interest (article 6(1)(f)).
Who processes it for us
Accounts and the app's interest list run on Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), provided by Google Ireland Limited as our processor. The database is in the EU. Google may process sign-in data outside the EU, for example in the United States; such transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Signing in with Google also means Google handles your sign-in under its own privacy policy. We share your data with no one else, unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Account data and the consent record: until you delete your account. The interest form: until you remove it or delete your account. Deletion is immediate in our database; it can take up to 30 days to leave Google's own backups.
Your rights
Under the GDPR (and, depending on where you live, POPIA in South Africa or the DPDP Act in India) you can see, download, correct and delete your data, object to or limit how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting what happened before.
- In the app, Club → Account has Download my data and Delete my account.
- Without the app, see Delete your account.
- Or email crickettechsa@gmail.com; we answer within one month.
You can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the data protection authority where you live.
Children
The register-interest form is for people aged 16 and over (18 and over in India, under its data protection law); a parent or guardian can register interest for a younger player. App accounts are for people aged 16 and over. Younger cricketers can use the app without an account, with no personal data sent to us. If you think a child under 16 has given us their details, email us and we'll delete them.
Security
Data is sent encrypted (HTTPS). Database rules only let you read and change your own account data. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and never seen by us.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the version and date at the top of this page, and ask you to agree again in the app if the change matters.
